This weeks creativity

You may remember a 'very' long time ago I painted a clock for my Etsy shop.  I 'finally' managed another couple I am happy with.  Not that I havent done them for a while, I just was not happy with them, but happy with these two and they will be added to my shop this week.  I must point out as I will on the listing, the houses are not my own art work but created with a stencil from the lovely 'Tam' at 'Willowing.org'.
Also finished Polly's 7a and 8.  Yes I know '7a' as 7 was just a very 'poor' Polly, she will remain in my file but I think she is better just staying in there, not every day is a good one.........ok............ here she is. but she will NOT be going up as a print.
See what I mean? not my best of days.  I have many idea's for variations of the 'Polly's' but this was not one of my better creations.
I also do a lot of practice in my magazine journal, this is one I was practicing painting techniques on yesterday.
.and to finish off today's blog, here are 'the boys' after today's beach walkies, although they were dried off they are feeling the cold today, and yes we do have a larger sofa they fit a lot better on.. but they choose this one..
Have a good week, and if you are in the UK keep warm - I have a feeling the cooler weather is on its way.

Today is a good one

I sketched this one out last night, and painted today.  Not my usual style at all, but the husband said 'stick with it' which I think meant he liked it.  Its a mixed media piece on A4 mixed media paper.  Last night I caught up on Art Geeks with Gulfsprite, I am a member of Art Geeks as I have been for some time and also take part in many of Christy's classes, she is a super teacher you can find out more on the website here Gulfsprite

As usual I was very inspired last night, and discovered one of my problems of late was my dislike of my current art journal, there is nothing wrong with the journal itself, but as I am so far through it now and the paper was not really meant for so much heavy collage and paint it had got really hard to work with due to the bulk.  Human nature says its such a waste not to use up all the paper in the book... but my total dislike of the whole thing was stopping me bothering at all.  So, today I threw all caution to the wind and got out a new journal.  This one is 40 sheets of 'kraft paper' so a different substrate to work on, but its spiral bound so hopefully will do better.

Gives me a good excuse to decorate the front..
Just need to varnish and then good to go.  I am hoping to continue in my new style in here before 'maybe' moving back to the canvas again.

Joy on the page

I had a finishing off day today.  This page was almost done, just a few finer details.  I like the hair and love the quote and the coloured background.. so this is going to find its way onto a canvas at some point in the future.  In case you cannot make out the writing it says "I am one of those people who just cant help getting a kick out of life, even when its a kick in the teeth" by Polly Adler.  This really made me smile.

Also finished off this page today in my smaller dylusions journal - I do prefer to work on a larger scale as a rule but the variety is often a good thing I find.
I do like the faces on these two, plenty of practice is always a good thing.  I was going to show the progress I am making on the HUGE canvas, but alas I forgot to resize the photo I took so that will have to wait for another time - reading Flora Bowley's book I got a new tip on the paints I was using that were not really flowing as I had hoped, so I did a new layer or two today with different paints and had much better progress.  So much so that I began another canvas too, this one is 20" x 16" so not as big, but enough for me.

Many of my new pals in the Art101 group find the free painting difficult to do.. I totally love it, I feel I was just born to do this, shame I didnt discover it over 40 years ago really, life would have been a lot different.  I am far happier now than I have been in a very long time and I do believe it shows in the art works I am producing.  Joy really does show on a page...
